I admit: I enjoy watching anime. And so, in some Anime one of the Main-Characters is wearing Lolita-Fashion. Sometimes in general, sometimes just for some occations.
Somehow I noticed that there is a difference between Lolita-Fashion in Anime and Lolita-Fashion in reality. Lolita-Fashion in Anime is often more “cosplayish”, looks more costumey, like something you would not really wear on a daily basis. Also they often are more sexual, like having a plunging neckline or just a short skirt which is - as we all should know - not Lolita-Fashion anymore. It is like Goths would wear colorful batik-skirts like the Hippies do/did - not Goth-Fashion anymore.

Asuka as (not really) “Goth Loli”
…but with a shorter skirt. No Petticoat. No Bloomers (yes, I own that modelkit, so I CAN tell ;), and a plunging neckline. So… for me: it has nothing to do with the Lolita-Fashion in general anymore.
On the other hand I think that it also depends on the targeting group. While in Anime, which are more for male audience the skirts are often more shorter and the plunging necklines are deeper and deeper, Anime - and Manga for sure - which are mainly for female audience can also have Characters which are in Lolita-Fashion which is 1:1 the same than Lolita-Fashion in Reality. A really good example are the Manga from Ai Yazawa. Misato Uehara aka Mai Tsuzuki from “Nana” or Mai Oota from “Gokinjo Monogatari” wear Lolita-Fashion at its best. At least in my humble opinion.
But maybe this is the main reason why there are so many rumours around Lolita-Fashion in reality. Maybe this is also the main reason why many people think, that “Gothic Lolita” is something to cosplay and not something which you wear on a daily basis because it is just a Fashion-Style.
On the other Hand this can be surely something positive too, because many people who are into cosplay could get connected to the Lolita-Fashion through this and so, the community could grow and - hopefully - the rumours and misinformations about this Fashion-Style could shrink and shrivel.
On the 19th of October I went to the Frankfurt Bookfair with some Friends. Actually it was really nice there, but it was also quite cold (-_-);
I met so many nice Lolitas \(^O^)/ There were some who always attend on the “Candy Day” in Frankfurt, but also some from far-off which was really cool! They were all so~ nicley dressed!
I wore my new Shiro-Lolita Outfit with my new Headdress - but we didn’t made many pictures so I will wear this (comfortable! (´ω`)) at the next meetup once again and will show you some better Pictures then.
On the Frankfurt Bookfair you can get many goodies, and there were also many exhibitors who had many interesting things. I got an Haruhi-Fan!
